About

Eleanor became a tenant at Selborne Chambers in October 2023, upon the successful completion of her pupillage.

Eleanor accepts instructions across all of Selborne’s key practice areas, including:

  • Private Client and Court of Protection
  • Real Property and Landlord & Tenant
  • Insolvency and Company
  • Commercial

As well as providing drafting and advisory services, Eleanor regularly appears as sole counsel in the County Court, the High Court, and the Insolvency and Companies Court.

Examples of her recent work include:

  • Successfully representing a client in a final deputyship hearing in the Court of Protection
  • Drafting extensive witness statements for a high-value TOLATA claim
  • Providing advice on civil restraint orders.

Eleanor recently had success in the Court of Appeal, as junior counsel to Mark Warwick KC, in Ahmet v Tatum & Anor [2024] EWCA Civ 255, an important case about the interaction of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and access to the civil courts to determine property rights.

Eleanor is a panel member for Advocate and enjoys taking on pro bono work.

During her pupillage, Eleanor “devilled” with a senior member of Chambers on a two-week trial in the Chancery Division of the High Court, on a case involving directors’ duties, transactions defrauding creditors, and land registration.

Before coming to the Bar, she graduated with a First-Class degree in History and German from Trinity College, Oxford. During her year abroad, she completed an internship at the United Nations in Vienna.

She obtained a Distinction in her law conversion course and was awarded the Kennedy Scholarship by Lincoln’s Inn for the Bar Course. Upon completion of her Bar Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, she was awarded the No. 5 Chambers Professional Ethics Prize. She was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn.
