Romie Tager KC set to retire from practice

After a career spanning 55 years, Romie Tager KC is to retire from practice on 31 March 2025.

This marks the end of an era as Romie was our founding Head of Chambers, launching Selborne with 11 colleagues in 2002.  Now, with 54 members, of whom 10 are (or will soon be) in silk, Chambers is an established and flourishing commercial-chancery and property set.

All at Selborne Chambers wish to thank Romie for his outstanding contribution to Chambers over the past 23 years.  Without him, we wouldn’t be here today.  We wish him a long and happy retirement.

Ian Clarke KC, Head of Chambers, commented:“It was Romie’s vision and support which led not only to the establishment of Chambers; he is a marvellous colleague, generous of his time and talents and we all owe him an enormous debt of gratitude. Chambers wishes him well in retirement for many years to come.”

Romie Tager KC, commented: “I have been privileged to enjoy a long and successful career at the Bar, the last 30 years as a silk, for which I am indebted to my many instructing solicitors, juniors, lay clients, clerks and other support staff and even my opponents and the judges who had the misfortune of having to put up with me over the years.

The successful founding of Selborne Chambers  must be the greatest professional achievement I have experienced, for which I must express my deepest appreciation to my colleagues and clerks whose faith in me and in our project, and their constant support over the years, and which continues under the current leadership of our Head of Chambers, Ian Clarke KC,  has enabled us to create a highly-respected and successful set of which we can all be so proud, and which I know they will continue to achieve in the future.”
