Tenancy

Existing tenants

Since nearly all members of Chambers have moved from other sets, we are alert to the difficulties and pressure that the consideration of moving chambers can bring. It is axiomatic that the confidentiality of any enquiry about joining Selborne Chambers and any application will be preserved and, as far as is humanly possible, Chambers' response to either will accommodate those difficulties. Chambers' size and structure enables it to respond quickly if the circumstances demand and with the minimum of formality.

Accordingly, there is no set procedure for enquiring about or applying to join Chambers. Contact, in the first instance, can be made with any member of Chambers, who will progress the matter in the manner and at the pace which best suits you.

New Tenants

Applications from those seeking their first tenancy will be considered in accordance with the guidelines and regulations made by the Bar Council. Accordingly, the timing and procedure for such applications is more structured and less flexible.

Any tenancy vacancy for a new junior tenant will be advertised on this website and on the Bar Council website. It is Chambers' intention to recruit a junior tenant annually, ideally from its pupils. For information concerning pupillage or third six-pupillages, please use the relevant links.
