Richard specialises in commercial and property litigation and arbitration. He is recognised in the Legal 500 for International Arbitration and in Chambers & Partners for Real Estate Litigation.
Within the business environment his practice encompasses commercial contract disputes, including agency, distribution, supply and finance agreements, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, and company insolvency and bankruptcy.
In the property sphere, Richard has a wealth of experience of landlord and tenant disputes, both commercial and residential, and other land related disputes including trusts, charges, boundaries, easements and restrictive covenants.
Richard is always thorough but pragmatic in his advice to clients, and is known for being a tenacious advocate on their behalf when representing them.
Of recent note, Richard represented the government of Bangladesh in an international investment arbitration before a World Bank ICSID tribunal, a Japanese bank in a shipping arbitration in Singapore, and his specialist practice in vehicle and motor sport related disputes continues apace, with a number of new clients; a trend that commenced with him successfully acting for the Arrows Formula One team on a driver dispute in 2002.
Richard is a former Judicial Assistant to the Court of Appeal, where he dealt in particular with commercial and property related appeals.
